Description
Hand-signed full-color printed illustration by artist Jen Urso on uncoated 100% PCW Recycled Paper
Mormon Mesa in Nevada may look like it’s “just open desert” or a “blank slate” but there are actually a lot of plants that survive and thrive in the environment. These plants have also been used for medicinal and edible purposes for a millennia! Created originally to accompany the art piece “What the Desert Already Has” for the exhibit Modern Desert Markings at The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art at UNLV, this poster includes plants logged by iNaturalist.org citizen scientists in the area including and surrounding Michael Heizer’s “Double Negative” earth work on Mormon Mesa, north of Las Vegas in Nevada. Each drawing includes ethnobotanical information from the Native American Ethnobotany Database.
This print mails in a sturdy, cardboard mailing tube.
